The Voice - HS Term 2 2018

High School - Term 2 2018

From the Principal of the College

Matthew Davies Principal

C hange requires both strategic vision and peripheral vision. Strategic vision is the ability to look ahead and peripheral vision is the ability to look around, and both are important. “We cannot become what we want by remaining what we are.” - Max de Pree We have identified three drivers to secure the future of our school, namely innovation, leadership and internationalism. It takes much

courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. “There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power.” - Alan Cohen To that effect I wish to refer to a few touch points that indicate this during the course of the past term:

• The recent launching of our Xtend-it initiative will see our Grade 8s and 9s move away from traditional assessment and embrace a collaborative learning platform based on the best practice of the Finnish system. The efforts of our staff, ably led by Mrs Cosh, have resulted in a completely transformed assessment programme that I could only wish for when I was at school. We will not be neglecting the core skills of language, science and mathematics in this exciting programme.
